About the college

College of Teacher Education

The College of Teacher Education is dedicated to training board-ready, highly competent, and compassionate professional educators. Aligned with the national mandates of CMO Nos. 74, 75, and 76, Series of 2017, the college implements an Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) model designed to meet international instructional standards. The college trains generalist primary educators through the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) program, specialized secondary discipline teachers (English, Filipino, and Mathematics) through the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) program, and foundational experts through the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd). Its ultimate goal is to produce ethical instructional leaders who drive cultural enrichment and literacy.

Vision

The College of Education, Sulu State College envisions itself as a center of Excellence and a Globally Competitive Institution in Human Resource Development, Instruction, Research, Extension and Production.

The School of Education commits to:
1. Provide sustainable outreach programs for social development contextualized to the ever changing and complex environment.
2. Produce highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content pedagogy in their respective areas of specialization/discipline.
3. Develop extensions who actively link with the community, ensuring the development of relevant academic and extension programs; and;

Objectives
Objective of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEE)
To improve and expand the physical plans, its facilities and more curricular offering to meet expected increase in enrolment.
To make the college center of social interaction and lead the revival of the cultural heritage.
To strengthen the holding power of the college by improving the competencies of the faculty and staff.

Objective of Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE)
Effective synthesizer of organized knowledge to allow technological and critical thinking.
Efficient promoter and facilitator of learning, engaged learners to develop their potentials to the fullest for a continuing pursuit.
Committed humanist whose clear understanding and appreciation of human ideals and values inspire learners to reach greater heights of human aspirations.

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Focuses on the holistic development, care, and education of children from birth to age eight. (Governed by CMO No. 76, S. 2017)

Bachelor of Elementary Education

Trains generalist teachers equipped with content knowledge and pedagogical skills for kindergarten through grade 6. (Governed by CMO No. 74, S. 2017)

Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English

Prepares specialist educators for junior and senior high school instruction, focusing on language proficiency, literature, and secondary literacy instruction. (Governed by CMO No. 75, S. 2017)
