Sulu State University (SSU) successfully conducted its two-day Orientation-Workshop on Institutional Accreditation on June 2–3, 2026, at the Boardroom, Administration Building, bringing together university officials, faculty members, accreditation coordinators, and key personnel in preparation for the University's institutional accreditation journey.
The activity formally opened on June 2 with the acknowledgment of participants by Asst. Prof. Adawia J. Jamasali, Ed.D.,followed by the welcome remarks of Assoc. Prof. Alijandrina T. Jalilul, Ed.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs. An inspirational message of the University President, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, underscored the University's commitment to quality assurance and continuous institutional improvement.
Serving as resource speakers were Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, RN, Executive Director of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. and Vice President of the National Network of Quality Assurance Agencies (NNQAA), and Dr. Lillian A. De Las Llagas, former Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The experts provided comprehensive discussions on the overview, objectives, accreditation areas, parameters, and documentary requirements of institutional accreditation.
On the second day, participants engaged in intensive workshops on accreditation compliance and document preparation, presentation of area assignments and responsibilities, mock evaluations, and document checking per area. The sessions culminated in the consolidation of outputs and recommendations aimed at enhancing the University's readiness for institutional accreditation.
The workshop concluded with a closing message from Assoc. Prof. Delfina A. Ampung, DPA, Head of Accreditation, who emphasized the importance of collaboration, commitment, and continuous quality improvement in achieving institutional excellence.
Through this initiative, Sulu State University reaffirms its dedication to strengthening its quality assurance mechanisms, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring that its academic and administrative services meet the highest standards of higher education.
